Incoming Transmission: AV Intern Blog #6

INCOMING TRANSMISSION: INTERN-AV / STARDATE 5112020 / WEEK SIX / COVID19 LOCKDOWN / MASSACHUSETTS

ACCEPT TRANSMISSION? Y / N

INCOMING TRANSMISSION BEGIN:

Hello, DVNC blog. It’s been another week of work here in my bedroom. Perhaps the largest project this week wasn’t at all related to Monochrome, or SETVR. I spent a significant amount of time disassembling (read: aggressively destroying the corkboard of) my old desk. Then I delivered it to the proper receptacle (read: putting the pieces in the garage).

I also went ahead and received a new and much more ergonomic desk (read: a folding table we had in the basement) and rewired my entire set-up. My RAM burnt out apparently, which is something I didn’t know that RAM could do. I had to get some more RAM and put that in my computer.

This happened to turn itself into a nice opportunity to upgrade my 5-year-old desktop tower. I think next for my old tower would be a new CPU, as I’ve hit a few bottlenecks on that front recently. The i5 has served me well, but might be approaching the end of her life.

In terms of work I have been doing on the various DVNC games, this week I wrote up a user journey for Monochrome’s battle system. I focused on what kind of emotions I want the player to have while battling, and how different menus flow into each other and in and out of battle sequences. I wrote a bit about how I’m developing a sense for RPG combat design over on the Monochrome Patreon [LINK WHEN AVAILABLE].

If you liked what was contained in this transmission, check out my previous OTA newsblast about writing story and developing a world. [LINK WHEN AVAILABLE] Or follow my twitter, @virtualvolt, where I’ll probably sound a lot less coherent than I do here.

INCOMING TRANSMISSION RECEIVED.

Drank a lot of coffee today / Got lost in the fray, I gave all I had for a time / Then by some strange design I got a case of the empties
