Hall of Fame – Community Room & Baking – Darren Kern – Devlog #12

Hall of Fame Textures:

This past week was a busy one! The Hall of Fame room is coming together nicely as I continue to add materials/textures to the geometry. It still isn’t quite finished yet as I was tasked with other work that needed to be addressed, but progress has certainly been made. Check out some of the images!

Community Room adjustments:

For this environment, the majority of the work had already been established. There were just a few adjustments that needed to be made, such as raising the ceiling, tweaking some of the UV maps, and then re-baking out the materials. In the process I learned about a few add-on’s in Blender that have made the entire UV/Baking process way more simplified and easier to manage. 

For anyone using Blender, I strongly suggest investing or consider using the UVPackmaster add-on, Node Preview, & SimpleBake add-on. Check out some of the images of the environment after some baking!

What’s next:

The rest of the week, I will focus on adding more materials for the Hall of Fame environment. In the process I will still be adjusting things here and there or changing out materials to see what looks best for the room.

Media of the Week:

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of the original Suicide Squad film. To me, it was a little lackluster and at times a little too cheesy. That being said, I am still a little skeptical about the newest version set to release some time in the near future. But I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that this one is more exciting with a better storyline! Check out the latest trailer below!
